What are your thoughts on this? Could Victoria find the space and the willingness among developers and also amongst our elected officials to create something like this? Lord knows, people would snap them up. Now these little places are of course rentals in Gas Town but I’m thinking that the same market exists here. I hope I’ll be forgiven for not knowing what the Sandwich Generation was even though it turns out I would be a prime member of that demographic. I might have not been far off in thinking it was that group of us who for 12 years survived on said sustenance during our school years. You know…”oh no, not sandwiches again!”
One time in grade 5, I took my lunch to the principal, convinced that someone had stolen it somehow during the morning and replaced what ever had been made for me with something that looked like canned cat food spread out on soggy bread. Who would do such a thing, I said to Mr. Kachur as I pushed the limp biscuits towards him. Naturally, he recoiled but then he opened them up, looked back at me and said,
“This is Spam.”
WTF did he mean, this was back when Spam was something you bought to eat, (still the highest selling lunch meat in Hawaii by the way, it’s true!) not something you would pay to get rid of from your inbox. I still remember feeling horrified and in my mind I was thinking, THIS IS FOOD?!

I skulked out of there, after I Spammed his trash bin, no longer hungry yet embarrassed that I had revealed to him what was given to me in the name of lunch. Momma, I know you always did the best, but that is vile!
From one Sandwich Generation to the next; Today’s version is the demographic that is comprised of those people who are raising kids of their own and who also find themselves having to take care of their elderly parents. Haven’t younger people always taken care of their ancestors as they head for the twilight of their lives?
Oh I know, people didn’t live as long so you weren’t taking care of your 80 yr. old Dad and his hot new 65 yr. old wife, maybe that was it. In any event, here we are today, with many out there, facing the prospect of caring for parents who either don’t have enough loot to see themselves thru or are just too physically strong to admit they would be better cared for in an assisted living scenario.
David Rittenhouse told me about Connected Independence today and we shot this video for you. I’m quite certain that this type of device will be as commonplace as other types of cell phones and computers in the very near future.

This is a new technology that you have no doubt seen around but maybe haven’t yet tried to use. The term QR code refers to the image that you see here and once you take a picture of it with your smart phone it leads you to a mobile web site that will give you more details on for example in this case, a listing. More and more businesses are using this technology. You can see how handy it would be for real estate listings to have this on their for sale signs, for shops, pubs, restaurants to post specials in their windows and for a myriad of other applications.
I’m wondering if Blackberrys, Iphones or Androids have much in the way of besting each other when it comes to opening these files.
